Lubrication oil in a Tesla
Traditional cars with internal combustion engines use oil to reduce friction on moving parts. The oil also cools the engine by carrying heat away from moving parts and cleans it from sludge and varnish.
Electric vehicles are a bit different.
They don’t require lubrication in the same way as. For example: they don’t need clutch fluid because they have a single speed gearbox.
Nevertheless, certain parts such as the drive unit, bearings and CV joints require lubricating oil.
